Always Sunny S01E02 – Charlie Wants an Abortion – Review

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” Season 1 Episode 2, “Charlie Wants an Abortion,” is a crass and politically incorrect episode that tackles a sensitive and controversial topic with characteristic irreverence.

The episode centers around Charlie (Charlie Day), who discovers that his former girlfriend is pregnant and decides that he wants her to have an abortion. The rest of the gang, including Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Mac (Rob McElhenney), and Dee (Kaitlin Olson), become involved in Charlie’s quest and things quickly spiral out of control.

While the subject matter of the episode is undoubtedly controversial, the show’s willingness to take on taboo topics is part of what makes it so compelling. The humor is dark and often offensive, but the episode’s satire of societal attitudes towards abortion is sharp and insightful.

The performances are once again outstanding, with Day’s portrayal of the hapless and misguided Charlie providing much of the episode’s humor. The chemistry between the actors is excellent, and their ability to play off of each other is a testament to their talent.

Overall, “Charlie Wants an Abortion” is a controversial but clever episode that demonstrates the show’s ability to tackle taboo subjects in a way that is both humorous and thought-provoking. While not for everyone, the show’s willingness to take on difficult subjects and push the boundaries of what is socially acceptable makes it a must-watch for those who enjoy edgy humor and biting social commentary.
