Everything we know about Alice in Borderland Season 3

Alice in Borderland, the thrilling Japanese series based on Haro Aso’s manga, is highly anticipated to return for its third season on Netflix.

The show centers around characters trapped in a deserted Tokyo and forced to participate in perilous games. The first season premiered on Netflix on December 10, 2020, and due to its success, the series was promptly renewed just two weeks after its release. Season 2 followed on December 22, 2022.

As of now, Netflix has not yet announced the renewal of Alice in Borderland for a third season. It’s possible that the streaming service is awaiting further developments for the series, particularly since Season 2 has already covered the story from the original manga.

Should Netflix decide to proceed with a third season, there’s potential for an expansion of Arisu and Usagi’s story, granting the writers the creative freedom to explore new narrative directions.

Notably, Alice in Borderland holds the distinction of being Netflix’s most-watched Japanese series of all time, as reported by Hypebeast. Given this impressive achievement, it seems likely that a Season 3 could be in store for fans.

Regarding the potential cast for Alice in Borderland Season 3, if it is renewed, most of the actors from the previous seasons are expected to reprise their roles. This includes Kento Yamazaki as Yuzuha Usagi, Tao Tsuchiya as Ryōhei Arisu, Aya Asahina as Kuina, Nijirō Murakam as Chishiya, Ayaka Miyoshi as Ann, Dori Sakurada as Niragi, Shô Aoyagi as Aguni, Yuri Tsunematsu as Heiya, and Riisa Naka as Mira Kano.

Considering that the first two seasons have already covered the entirety of the manga’s story, the possibilities for Alice in Borderland Season 3 are wide open. The Season 2 finale saw Arisu successfully putting an end to the games and allowing the players to return to the real world. However, the presence of a Joker card discovered in the hospital gardens suggests that not everything is as it seems. In the manga, the Joker represents the Ferryman, the entity responsible for transporting the group back to reality. This teaser hints that the games may continue and that the players are trapped in an illusion to prevent their escape.

Riisa Naka, who portrays Mira Kano, expressed her hopes for Season 3 and hinted at the possible return of the “ghost of Hatter” in an interview with Nextshark in December 2022.

If Season 3 moves forward, it could potentially adapt the Alice in Borderland Retry manga, which takes place a few years after the original story. This would offer a fresh direction for the series to explore.
