‘The Last Of Us’ Moves Production to Vancouver For Season 2

The ongoing story of Joel (Pedro Pascal), who is assigned to safeguard Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl who could be humanity’s only hope following a worldwide epidemic, will be filmed in Vancouver for the upcoming season of the HBO series. Followers of the 2013 video game on which The Last of Us is based are aware that a significant part of Part II’s narrative is set in the Pacific Northwest. HBO has not yet provided any information on the plot or filming start date for the upcoming season.

Production of the initial season began in July 2021 in Calgary, Alberta, with various locations in the Canadian province standing in for Texas, Wyoming, and Missouri in the post-apocalyptic series.

Following the broadcast of only two episodes, The Last of Us was renewed for a second season by HBO, ranking as the second-highest-rated premiere since Boardwalk Empire’s debut in 2010, trailing only House of the Dragon.

During a press conference prior to the season finale, creators and executive producers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann discussed why there were progressively fewer infected individuals shown in the first season. Mazin stated that despite being authorized for a full season, he and Druckmann believed that they couldn’t solely focus on one season without contemplating future installments. “The Last of Us” has more story to tell, and the balance between the number of infected individuals shown isn’t solely based on each episode or even each season, but rather over the course of the series as a whole. Mazin suggested that there could be a significant increase in the number of infected in the future.
